Air Transat's Winter 2026–27 Sun Routes: Los Cabos, Aruba, Las Palmas & Barbados

Air Transat winter 2026-27 sun routes

Air Transat has been on a roll lately, and its winter 2026-27 program is where a lot of the excitement is. The airline is adding a wave of new nonstop sun routes out of Montreal and Toronto, and a few of them fill gaps that Canadian travellers have been waiting on for years.

Here is a full breakdown of every new winter route and why some of them are worth getting excited about.

Winter 2026–2027: Sun Season Gets a Major Upgrade

The fares below are the cheapest round trips I could find as of July 8, 2026. Prices move a lot, especially the closer we get to each launch date, so treat these as a snapshot rather than a promise.

Los Cabos, Mexico

Los Cabos (Montreal to Los Cabos)

Starting December 10, 2026 — once a week

Operated by the narrowbody Airbus A321neo: 2-2 Club Class and 3-3 Economy

From $803 CAD round trip as of July 8, 2026. See current fares →

Los Cabos has steadily climbed the ranks of Mexico's most popular destinations, and for good reason. It offers resort luxury on one end and rugged desert-meets-ocean scenery on the other.

A nonstop from Montreal is long overdue. Air Canada also flies nonstop from Montreal to Los Cabos over the winter season, so there will be options to compare when planning your trip.

Aruba

Aruba (Montreal to Oranjestad)

Starting December 12, 2026 — once a week

Operated by the narrowbody Airbus A321neo: 2-2 Club Class and 3-3 Economy

From $723 CAD round trip as of July 8, 2026. See current fares →

Aruba sits outside the main hurricane belt, which makes it one of the most reliable winter sun destinations in the Caribbean. Consistent dry weather, calm turquoise water, and a relaxed pace make this one of the smarter picks for a February or March escape.

A nonstop from Montreal removes the last excuse not to go. Air Canada also flies nonstop from Montreal to Aruba over the winter season, meaning more seats and more scheduling flexibility for travellers flying out of YUL.

Las Palmas, Canary Islands

Las Palmas, Canary Islands

Montreal to Las Palmas: starting December 12, 2026 — once a week

Toronto to Las Palmas: starting December 13, 2026 — once a week

Operated by the narrowbody Airbus A321neo: 2-2 Club Class and 3-3 Economy

Montreal: from $894 CAD round trip. See current fares →
Toronto: from $893 CAD round trip. See current fares →
Prices as of July 8, 2026.

This one might be the most underrated announcement in the whole bunch. The Canary Islands sit off the northwest coast of Africa, giving them a mild, spring-like climate year-round, even in January.

Las Palmas, on Gran Canaria, is a proper city with beaches, a beautiful old quarter, and easy access to the rest of the archipelago. For Canadians looking for something different from the usual Caribbean or Mexico formula, this one is worth serious consideration.

No other Canadian airline is flying to Las Palmas nonstop.

Barbados

Barbados (Montreal to Bridgetown)

Starting December 13, 2026 — twice a week

Operated by the narrowbody Airbus A321neo: 2-2 Club Class and 3-3 Economy

From $536 CAD round trip as of July 8, 2026. See current fares →

Barbados has a distinct character that sets it apart from most Caribbean islands, with a mix of British colonial history, world-class rum, incredible food, and some of the best beaches in the region.

The twice-weekly frequency from Montreal makes it accessible for a one-week trip without awkward connection logistics. Air Canada is also launching nonstop Montreal to Barbados service this winter, running four times a week from October 2026 through April 2027, so travellers out of YUL will have two carriers and more scheduling flexibility to compare.

The Bottom Line

Air Transat winter routes bottom line

What stands out about Air Transat's winter routes is the variety. The airline is opening up Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, the only nonstop link between Canada and Gran Canaria, while adding meaningful new options across Mexico and the Caribbean. For travellers who have been building sun trips around connections and layovers, these nonstops represent a real shift in what is possible.

These winter routes are already bookable. If any of these destinations have been on your list, now is a good time to start watching fares.

Happy travels!
