Airline NewsAir Transat Is Quietly Testing a New Rewards Program, and You Can Join the Waitlist Now
Air Transat is building a loyalty program, and it is closer than you might think. The airline has opened a beta version of its new rewards program in an invite-only test phase, and while full access is still limited, anyone can add their name to the waitlist today.
This is a big step for Air Transat. A rewards program of its own puts the carrier in the points game alongside Aeroplan, WestJet Rewards, and VIPorter, and gives its regular flyers a reason to book direct.
Note: there is still a lot of information about this program that we don't know yet. I'm hoping we find out more details in the coming months.

What is this, and who can join right now?
The rewards program is currently in a test phase, which means Air Transat has invited a limited number of people by email to try it out before the official launch. If you received an invitation, you can log in and start exploring the features. Everyone else is on the outside looking in for the moment, but not for long.
The good part is that the waitlist is open to all adults. Adding your name does not cost anything, and it puts you in line to be notified as soon as more spots open up. As a test-phase member, you also get to help shape the program by sharing feedback before it is finalized.
Signing up is simple. Head to Air Transat's rewards program page and click "Join the waitlist," then enter your email and basic information. That is all it takes to get on the list.
How the program works so far

The most notable part is that this is a standalone rewards program first. You earn points simply by flying Air Transat, no co-branded credit card required. Registration is free, and the waitlist is open to all adults.
Points are earned on the base fare, before taxes and airport fees, and the rate depends on your fare type:
- Eco Budget: 3 points per dollar
- Eco Standard and Club Standard: 5 points per dollar
- Eco Flex and Club Flex: 7 points per dollar
Add-ons like Option Plus, seat selection, a checked bag, or a pre-ordered meal earn 5 points per dollar, as long as you buy them in advance rather than at the airport. For now, only flights operated by Air Transat and booked on the Canadian site are eligible.
On the redemption side, there is a nice bit of flexibility. You can apply points to cover 10, 20, 30, 40, or even 100 percent of the fare and carrier surcharge, so you do not have to save up for a full flight before using them. Taxes and fees are still paid in cash, and points cannot be combined with a promo code. You also keep earning on the cash portion of a trip even when you redeem points on it.
There is also a group account feature that lets up to nine friends or family members pool their points into one shared balance, which could be handy for planning trips together.
The credit card piece is still coming

Back in January, Air Transat announced a partnership with Desjardins and Visa to launch a line of co-branded credit cards. Those cards are not out yet, and no details on fees, earn rates, or perks have been shared. The full program, cards included, is expected to arrive in the second half of 2026.
A few of the beta details above could shift before the official launch, since Air Transat has said terms may change during testing.
The Bottom Line
Air Transat finally having its own rewards program is worth watching, especially for anyone who flies its European and sun routes regularly. There is not much downside to joining the waitlist now, since it is free and puts you in line for early access. We will be keeping an eye on the earn and redemption rates once the full program and the Desjardins cards go live later this year.
You can get started on Air Transat's rewards program page, where you click "Join the waitlist" to sign up.
Happy travels!
