Airline NewsFiji Airways and WestJet Just Made Getting to Fiji a Whole Lot Easier for Canadians
If a trip to Fiji has been on your radar, this is your sign to start planning.
Fiji Airways and WestJet have announced a brand new codeshare partnership, and it is good news for Canadian travellers looking to get to the South Pacific without a complicated routing.
The deal was announced on May 12, 2026, and bookings under the new codeshare are already live on both fijiairways.com and westjet.com. Here is a breakdown of everything you need to know.
What Does This Actually Mean for You?

A codeshare partnership means two airlines sell seats on each other's flights under their own flight numbers. The practical benefit for travellers is that you can book your entire trip on a single ticket, check your bags all the way through to Nadi, and deal with just one booking if something goes sideways.
Under this agreement, Fiji Airways is placing its FJ code on WestJet's domestic Canadian network, covering Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Halifax. In return, WestJet is placing its WS code on Fiji Airways' Vancouver to Nadi route, and onward to Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington in New Zealand.
So if you are flying from Winnipeg to Nadi, for example, you can now book a single WestJet-coded itinerary that connects through Vancouver onto a Fiji Airways flight to Fiji. You check in once, your bags go through, and you earn WestJet Rewards points on the entire journey.
Expanded Vancouver Service and the A350 Upgrade

The codeshare announcement comes alongside some meaningful upgrades to the Vancouver-Nadi route itself.
Starting June 18, 2026, Fiji Airways is increasing its Vancouver service to three flights per week year-round, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Then, beginning September 8, 2026, all Vancouver flights will be operated by the Airbus A350-900, which is a meaningful upgrade from the current Airbus A330.
The A350 is a big deal on a long-haul route like this. Every seat has a Thales high-definition entertainment system, Wi-Fi is available throughout, and Fiji Airways describes the cabin as the quietest of any twin-aisle aircraft currently in service. On an 11-plus hour overnight flight, that matters.
If you are in Business Class, you are looking at 33 fully lie-flat Collins Aerospace Super Diamond seats. In Economy, there are 301 seats total, including 39 Bula Space seats with extra legroom if you want a bit more room to stretch out on the crossing.
It Is Not Just Fiji
WestJet's code is not just on the Vancouver-Nadi flight. It extends onward through Fiji Airways' South Pacific network to Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington in New Zealand. So if New Zealand has been on the list, this codeshare opens up a cleaner single-booking path from most major Canadian cities to get there as well.
Fiji Airways is also a full member of the Oneworld alliance, which means further connections into a wider global network beyond those South Pacific destinations.
WestJet Rewards Points on the Whole Trip

For WestJet flyers, one of the better perks of this codeshare is that you can earn and redeem WestJet Rewards points on your entire itinerary when you book a WestJet-coded journey.
That includes the Fiji Airways-operated Vancouver to Nadi leg, which is the longest and most valuable segment of the trip. If you have been accumulating WestJet dollars, this gives you a meaningful way to put them toward a South Pacific adventure.
The Bottom Line: How to Book
Bookings under the codeshare are available now through both fijiairways.com and westjet.com. If you're thinking of planning a Fiji vacation, or are using Fiji Airways as a way to fly elsewhere in the Oceania region, this is an exciting time to book.
Happy travels!
