Flair is Bringing Cancun Back This Winter. Nonstop from Edmonton, Calgary, and Montreal.

Flair Airlines nonstop service to Cancun

If you are based in Edmonton, Calgary, or Montreal and you have been thinking about a winter escape, this one is worth paying attention to!

Flair Airlines has announced direct seasonal service between Cancun, Mexico and all three cities, launching in December 2026 and running through early April 2027.

Having another option to reach a destination is always welcome, as new competition typically brings prices down and adds additional availability.

The Routes

Dates and schedules are subject to change. Base fares start at $259, subject to government approval. Check directly with Flair before booking.

Calgary gets the highest frequency at four flights per week, while Edmonton and Montreal get three weekly departures. Around the holidays and especially during that long grey stretch through February and March when a trip somewhere warm stops feeling optional, this added frequency to Cancun is a welcome addition to these three Canadian cities.

Route Frequency Dates
Calgary (YYC) → Cancun (CUN)New 4x / week Dec 17, 2026 – Apr 6, 2027
Edmonton (YEG) → Cancun (CUN)New 3x / week Dec 16, 2026 – Apr 4, 2027

Who Currently Flies Direct to Cancun from These Cities?

Airlines flying direct to Cancun from Canada

Flair is entering a market that already has some established players, which is exactly why this is good news for travellers. Here is who is already flying direct to Cancun this winter season:

Calgary

Airline Frequency Season
Air Canada 4x / week Dec 11, 2026 – Mar 12, 2027
WestJet Daily Now – Apr 18, 2027

Edmonton

Airline Frequency Season
Air Canada 4x / week Nov 1, 2026 – Mar 13, 2027
WestJet Daily Oct 26, 2026 – Apr 18, 2027

Montreal

Airline Frequency Season
Air Canada 3x / day Nov 1, 2026 – Mar 13, 2027
Air Transat 2x / day Oct 25, 2026 – Feb 14, 2027
WestJet (Sunwing) Daily Winter season

Montreal is particularly well-served, which is no surprise given how popular Cancun is with Quebec travellers. Calgary and Edmonton have solid coverage from Air Canada and WestJet, but both cities are operating without a budget option on this route right now. That is exactly the gap Flair is stepping into, and it should put some pressure on fares across the board heading into next winter.

Why Cancun?

Cancun Mexico beach

Cancun has a reputation as a party destination, and sure, that side of it exists. But it is also one of the most practical sun escapes available to Canadians.

The Hotel Zone has some of the best beach access in the Caribbean. The food scene beyond the resorts is genuinely excellent. And perhaps most importantly, Cancun is a launchpad.

Chichen Itza, Tulum, Coba, and a network of cenotes that will genuinely stop you in your tracks are all within reach on a day trip. Swim inside a limestone sinkhole with light filtering down from above and you will understand why people keep coming back to the Yucatan Peninsula year after year.

What to Know About Flair

Flair is an low-cost carrier, and it is worth going in with the right expectations. Bags are not included in base fares, there are no complimentary snacks or drinks, and the seats are standard economy.

The move that makes Flair work well is to pack carry-on only if you can, book early, and put the savings toward something better at the destination. A nicer hotel, a proper cenote tour, a meal somewhere other than the resort buffet. Done right, a Flair flight to Cancun is a good deal.

The Bottom Line

Flights kick off December 16th from Edmonton and Montreal, and December 17th from Calgary. If a winter escape is on your radar, this is the time to start looking.
