Flair Launches a New Montreal to Punta Cana Route This Winter

Flair Airlines new Montreal to Punta Cana route

Flair has another sun route on the way for Quebec travellers. Starting December 17, 2026, the airline will fly nonstop between Montreal and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, adding a second beach destination to its growing list of departures from YUL.

For anyone in the Montreal area who has been watching low-cost options slowly expand out of Trudeau, this is a welcome addition heading into winter. Here is what we know so far, and how the new route stacks up against the airlines already flying it.

The New Route

The new service connects Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) with Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) three times per week. Fares start at $224 CAD one way, though that figure is still subject to government approval and could shift before flights begin.

If you are weighing whether to jump on those opening fares, it is worth remembering that low-cost carrier base fares climb quickly once add-ons like bags and seat selection come into play. The real cost depends on how you pack and how you fly, so the sticker price is a starting point rather than the final number.

Who Else Flies Montreal to Punta Cana

Flair is far from the only option on this route. Punta Cana is one of the most popular winter escapes for Quebec travellers, and several airlines already run regular service. Here is how the lineup compares:

The takeaway: if you want frequency or a cabin above economy, the legacy and leisure carriers still have the edge. What Flair brings to the table is another nonstop option and the potential to drag the entry-level fare down across the board.

Flair's Other Montreal Routes

Punta Cana rounds out a quickly growing Flair presence at YUL. The airline already serves Vancouver, giving Montrealers a low-cost domestic option across the country, and recently announced winter service to Cancun.

With Punta Cana now in the mix, Flair offers Quebec travellers two sun destinations plus a transcontinental route. The airline says it will offer more than 31,000 seats out of YUL this winter as it keeps building up its Quebec network. That is a notable step up from where the carrier sat in this market not long ago, and it points to a broader push into Quebec rather than a one-off addition.

The Bottom Line

More competition on a popular winter route is good news for travellers, and Flair's entry could put some pressure on fares to Punta Cana across the board. Whether Flair ends up being the cheapest way to fly will come down to the all-in price once you add everything you need.

Either way, having another nonstop choice from Montreal is a solid win for anyone planning a Caribbean getaway this winter. We will be keeping an eye on how the opening fares hold up once the route goes on sale.
