✈️🇨🇦 Flights from $243 + WestJet Travel Advisory, Air Canada’s Basic Premium Fares

The big aviation news in Canada is that WestJet is facing a potential labour disruption.

The airline’s cabin crew union has issued a 72-hour strike notice, and WestJet has responded with a lockout notice, meaning a work stoppage could begin as early as August 2nd if no agreement is reached. Nothing is guaranteed yet, and both sides are still at the bargaining table.

If you are flying with WestJet between July 30th and August 4th, you can make a one-time change or cancellation at no additional cost. Note this applies to WestJet mainline flights only.

Another big development in the Canadian aviation space is Air Canada’s introduction of Basic Fares for Premium Economy and Business Class in select markets.

This unbundling of services means you should pay less for a premium seat, but you lose certain privileges and offerings, like reduced lounge access, receiving only one checked bag, and more.
